Energy and resource crises, population growth, biodiversity loss and social inequality are the big challenges facing our cities. How can we adapt the existing urban landscape more quickly and effectively in order to address these issues? At the Leibniz University Hannover Faculty of Architecture and Landscape Sciences, research on the use of artificial intelligence is underway – both for the development of sustainable buildings and for optimised watering of city trees. The researchers illustrate and discuss their research using a large-scale model of the city of Hannover, which is the starting point for scaling developments to the European level.
