Research under microgravity conditions: the Einstein Elevator
9.00-11.30

Up to 300 tests per day under microgravity conditions: the Einstein Elevator is a more developed version of a classical drop tower, enabling experiments under microgravity conditions and with a high repetition rate. At this one-of-a-kind facility at the Hannover Institute of Technology (HITec) at Leibniz University Hannover, the researchers are conducting pioneering work for space missions and civilisation on the moon or Mars: in 2024, a team led by LUH developed the first flexible 3D printing process in the world, which uses metal powder to produce and repair components in microgravity conditions.
