SCIENCE INSIGHT: Tracing life: monitoring methods behind biodiversity data

SCIENCE INSIGHT by biodiversa+
October 14, 11.30 am – 12.00 pm

  • Petteri Vihervaara, Finnish Environment Institute (Syke)

When we think of biodiversity monitoring, we picture tallying bees, tracking mammals, or observing migration patterns. But biodiversity monitoring spans a far wider range of techniques, from DNA traces captured in the air to satellite mapping of habitat loss and land-use change. This session explores these methods, what the data reveal, and where they ultimately go.
